So the Olympics are in full swing, and it is a great time to watch the world’s best athletes compete against each other. If you are like many you can watch the Olympics on the NBC networks. This will require you to watch about 4 minutes of games (and of course it is something like synchronized swimming) followed by more commercials than you can count, followed by 4 minutes of sports and the commercials again (just keep repeating this).
If you are smart you can skip the commercials, and the synchronized swimming (is that even a sport?) and watch the Olympics online. If you do this you can watch live, and see the highlights. You are even able to select the sports that you really want to watch. The NBC Olympics site is one site that you can choose from to do this, there are also others. Wired has a great article with different places to watch.
So go and watch the Olympics and root for your country (GO USA!).

So I just rediscovered this really cool website called Hulu . This website is an online video site which features full length movies, and TV shows. The great thing about it is that the videos are all free to watch online. You also don’t have to worry because the site is completely legal because the companies that produce the movies or shows are the ones that put the shows on the site.
Also, they are not just getting budget movie or second rate shows. There are some great shows on here. USA’s Psych, NBC’s The Office, and FOX’s House are just a few of the many TV shows on the site.

So along with what feels like every other fellow geek/nerd in the world, last Friday I tried to get myself the new iPhone 3G. Now if you have not heard about this phone, you are either my mom, or living on Gilligan’s Island (but the Professor made a radio out of coconuts and bamboo so you have heard about it, and then he made an iPhone out of the same materials so you are closer to it than I am). This cellphone can do what seems like everything.
Anyways, I can’t get it. Because I am not eligible for an upgrade on my cell plan until October 24th I will not be able to get an iPhone until then. I am bummed about that because it would also be like having a new iPod, but now the iPhone will be my birthday gift to myself.

Last night on the news, there was a report on how newspapers are losing business and how the younger generations see the newspaper as yesterday’s news. One guy that was interviewed shared how he receives updates from Google about the news every morning, and loves how those updates are more current than what he can get from a newspaper.
I would have to agree that the newspaper is on the way out. A person can receive news just minutes after it has happened via the internet on their phone or computer. You can even customize the updates to only have news that is important to you, or that interests you. It is more of a personal direct for of news for everyone. It seems that newspapers will need to start catering to the younger and internet connected people to survive.
